Life Hacks

Everyone loves a good life hack!  Simple little secrets that average people like us have stumbled upon and made a mundane day better.

I turned 40 last week!  I got my hair dyed for the first time to cover up those grays, met a fabulous new hairstylist in the meantime, and this week I had my first (oh so dreaded) mammogram!  Knowing this day was approaching earlier in the year, I called my life-long best friend who also happened to be turning 40 and we made plans to schedule our appointment on the same day.  We drove the 45 minutes up and back together, had lunch, and turned what would have been a rather unpleasant experience into a lovely afternoon!

Ever since then, I have been thinking about how I could “life hack” estate planning to make it more pleasant, because we all know that talking about end-of -life events or unplanned emergencies are never fun!  That led me to my own life hack discovery.

As many of you know, I moonlight as a travel agent because planning vacations has always been such a fun hobby for me that I turned into a business.  I find it balances the mental challenges of such a sometimes-draining job.  (The problem with being a problem solver, is that you work with problems all day long!)

To me, planning a vacation is on the most fun things to do.  It fills me with so much excitement and gives me something to look forward to.

So, what if- like I combined an unpleasant experience with a pleasant experience today, we planned an “estate and vacation plan” combo meeting?  We’ll get the not so fun (but important) stuff out of the way first and save the best for last!  I am still brainstorming to come up with a clever name for this meeting (10 percent discount to anyone who comes up with a catchy name!!)

But if you want to do it, just mention the word “VACATION” when you book a Peace of Mind planning session, and I will know to come ready to talk travel!  The best part is the travel part is FREE, so you get an extra great service at NO extra cost.
